60 DAYS LEFT TO THE GRAND ROAD 2019 VENEZIA – MONTECARLO
04/04/2019
Press release: 3/2019
.
Milan, 04/04/2019
– The excitement for the Grand Road 2019 Venezia – Montecarlo is palpable. The exclusive event organized by the Scuderia Mantova Corse (already known for the 28 editions of Gran Premio Nuvolari), reserved to modern supercars (1982 - 2019) of all brands, will take place from May 30th to June 2nd 2019, with a breathtaking route through the beauties of northern Italy, and a final foray into French land, with the arrival in the Principality of Monaco.
The Grand Road will start in less than two months from Venice, making its very first appearance on the international motorsport scene with an innovative and glamour format.
It will be a concentration of fashionable news, five-star tourism and performance, to which the Scuderia Mantova Corse has been working intensively for several months, perfecting technical, logistic and image aspects. A race that will fascinate enthusiasts, giving them the ideal opportunity to enjoy their Supercar and the beauties of their Country, while at the same time measuring their driving skills. Actually, the adrenaline rush of the competition will not be lacking: the crews will have the unique opportunity to test the performance of their "racing cars" in two places full of charm and motor allure, the Monza Autodrome, the temple of speed, and the FCA Balocco Proving Ground (VC).
The event will also be an opportunity to relax within a framework of excellent hotel and restaurant hospitality.
In Venice, after the technical and sport checks, the inaugural evening of Thursday, May 30th will take place at the wonderful Hilton Hotel Molino Stucky, which overlooks the shores of the Giudecca Island.
On the following day, Friday, 31st May, the kermesse will start: the crews will leave from Venice, the “Serenissima”, to reach Como. The first section of 400 km between the Alps and the lakes of northern Italy will be suspended by the intermediate break for lunch at Castel Ivano in Trento, a majestic medieval noble residence. The cars will then continue towards the Adamello Natural Park, the Tonale Pass and they will arrive in the picturesque setting of Lake Como for the evening at the panoramic terrace of the Hilton Como Lake.
On Saturday, 1st June, the cars will face the second stage: 300 km between Como and Turin. In the morning, the crews will arrive at the National Autodrome of Monza to compete on the track, continuing the itinerary towards Lake Maggiore, where they will stop for the lunch break in the magnificent liberty-style Grand Hotel des Iles Borromées. The event will continue on the shores of Lake Orta to arrive then in Turin, where an emotional evening dedicated to the automotive passion will be hosted in the “Piazza” of the Automobile Museum (an indoor court covered in the heart of the Museum, designed by the architect Cino Zucchi).
On the last day of competition, Sunday 2nd June, the itinerary will develop between Turin and Montecarlo, along a route of 250 km through the Italian-French Alps. The intermediate break will be in Vinadio, at the Forte Albertino, one of the most significant examples of the nineteenth-century military architecture. The crews will then trespass to France, through the Col de la Lombarde, and they will descend into French soil. The event will close with a parade of the cars in the Place du Casino of Monaco, one of the most famous and charming places of the international jet set. The final Gala dinner will take place in the magnificent Salon sur Mer of the Fairmont Hotel, during which the award ceremony will be held. The registration requests have to be filled exclusively on the website: www.grandroad.it. It will be possible to enrol to the event until April, the 30th.
