COUNTDOWN FOR THE GRAND ROAD 2019 VENEZIA – MONTECARLO. ALL IS SET FOR THE MOST GLAMOROUS EVENT OF THE YEAR FOR SUPERCARS
05/21/2019
Press Release: 5/2019
Milan, 21st May 2019 – The debut of the Grand Road 2019 Venezia - Montecarlo is just a few days away. The exclusive motoring event, reserved for modern supercars of all brands built between 1982 and 2019 and organized by the Scuderia Mantova Corse, will run from 30th May to 2nd June 2019. An exciting 1000 km journey from Venice to Montecarlo, through beautiful Northern Italian landscapes and exclusive locations full of charm, with a final foray into French land, crowned by the arrival in the Principality of Monaco. Together with the event, there will be the Alfa Romeo cars, the most exciting in the world.
At its zero edition, the event presents itself on the international scene as an experimental touristic competition, with a completely new format and an exquisitely chic allure. The Grand Road aspires to become over time the reference point for the large network of sports car enthusiasts, GT, creating a social occasion with a high convivial, touristic and sporting value. During the event, the adrenaline rush won't lack: the crews will have the unique opportunity to test the performance of their racing cars in two temples of the international motoring, the Monza Autodrome and the FCA Proving Ground, inside the Balocco Circuit (VC).
“After so many years in the historic motoring world as organizers of the Gran PremioNuvolari, we decided to design a product that would give to owners of modern supercars the opportunity to enjoy the potential and comfort of their cars and, at the same time, the beauties of the Italian territory, all in a setting of high-level hospitality”- commented the creators of the Grand Road: Claudio Rossi, Luca Bergamaschi and Marco Marani.
The event will open on Thursday, May 30th, in Venice, when the GTs will be gathered at the Tronchetto, the artificial island of the Lagoon, to carry out the technical and sporting checks that precede the start of the event. A unique opportunity for car enthusiasts and collectors to admire many aesthetic and technological masterpieces in an equally suggestive location. The opening dinner for the participants will take place at the Hilton Hotel Molino Stucky, overlooking the magical shores of the Giudecca Island.
The following day, Friday 31st May, the show will come alive: the crews will leave the Serenissima and arrive in Como. A first section of 400 km between the Alps and the lakes of Northern Italy, delighted by the lunch break at Castel Ivano in Trento, a majestic medieval noble residence. The cars will then continue towards the Adamello Natural Park and the Tonale Pass, to arrive at the end of the day on the shores of the enchanting Lake Como. The evening will take place in the splendid panoramic terrace of the Hilton Como Lake Hotel.
On Saturday, 1st June, the cars will face the second 280 km stage along the Como-Turin route. In the morning, the crews will compete on the track of the National Autodrome of Monza, a place of worship for speed lovers, where they will be able to test their driving skills and the performance of their vehicles. The cars will then continue towards the Maggiore Lake, where they will stop for lunch in the magical liberty halls of the noble Grand Hotel des Iles Borromées, in Stresa. The event will continue lining the Lake Orta, with a stop in Omegna, to arrive in the afternoon at the Hilton Hotel Lingotto in Turin. A special soirée dedicated to the automotive passion will take place at the "Formula Hall" of the Automobile Museum of Turin.
On the third and last day of competition, on Sunday, 2nd June, the itinerary will develop between Turin and the Principality of Monaco, along a 280 km route through the Italian-French Alps. The lunch will be organized in Vinadio, at the Forte Albertino, one of the most significant examples of nineteenth-century military architecture. The cars will then descend into French soil through the Col de la Lombarde. The event will close with the arrival of the cars in one of the most symbolic places of the international jet set, Montecarlo, with a defilé in the Place du Casino, an emblematic and charming location. Finally, the Gala Dinner will take place in the impressive Salon sur Mer of the Fairmont Hotel, during which the award ceremony will be held.
